Day 6 *continued*

for those old n senile, lemme refresh your memory on earlier happenings...

Niu2 and i were stranded in Taipei and almost had to sleep on the streets if not for her kind friends

it was a nerve wrecking morning for both of us, bcos i gotta rush back to Niu2's house to pack as i was leaving for Tainan at 10am and Niu2 had a seminar to attend the same morning.

and i felt so badddddd. Niu2 friend's mom also woke up early to prepare breakfast for us (although she claimed that it's the usual time she wakes up...ermmm like 5+?). it was so sweet of the family!!! really appreciate their warm hospitality~~

finally back home~ took faster than expected to pack my luggage so we sat down to have a nice and slow breakfast :P

my uncle (Niu2's father) didnt realize we spent e night out, so he too woke up early to get breakfast for us. and as Niu2 mentioned i like mantou (buns):

before he left for work, he went out especially to buy it for us, only to realize we were not at hm later =..=

naturally my uncle got quite pissed haha, cos we had been stayin out late, only returning late at nite to sleep den the next morning we'd be out again, macham treating the house like a hotel (he's those homely family-oriented type of guy) but later his mood changed for e better when Niu2 decided to give e seminar a miss and stay in for e day (ironic dat truancy made his day lol)

i was touched by the trouble my uncle went through to prepare breakfast for us. on the first nite i spent at Niu2's house, he also woke up past midnight to check on me (twice!) and make sure i was sleeping well.

when i was a kid i was very afraid of him bcos he's the sternest and strictest uncle i have. usually adults turn a blind eye to misbehaving kids who're not their own, bcos they dont want to come across as being a busybody tryin to tell e others how to discipline their kids.

but my uncle wont give it a 2nd thought abt reprimanding any misbehaving kids. he has a strong sense of what's right and what's wrong, and he's not shy abt voicing them out. An awkward situation might result, but he's doing it for e other party's own good. i used to be terrified in his presence, but now he's one of my most respected adult.

(a side note: seriously speaking, i'd want to marry a guy like my uncle in e future. my kids wld be terrorized lah. but they'd get used to it :D)

Niu's bf's coming over later, but i wont get to meet him cos i had to leave for Tainan bleh

something random...

although both TW and SG are Chinese-dominated societies, there're some interesting discrepancies in our ways of life...

water dispensers - practically every household owns one in TW. it's like an essentially item in the house, so taiwanese drink distilled water instead of boiled tap water. high class hor? LOL.

(it is prob due to the bad water quality. Tap water in TW are unsafe for direct consumption, in contrary to Singapore's case)

instead of toilet paper rolls, most taiwanese uses toilet paper sheets LOL.

i cant think of a reasonable explanation for dat haha. personally i find toilet paper sheets a hassle to use. one layer is too thin while three layers are too thick. but it's difficult to make sure you get two sheets everytime. this is very technical stuff okayz :P

later Niu2's bro sent me to e train station. lemme give u a rough idea where i'm heading...

bascially i'm travelling from the northern tip to e southern tip. on e fastest train, it'd take 4hr+

how a standard train tix looks like. a trip from Taipei to Tainan, on e fastest train, wld cost ard $35.

the plan was to meet up with my mom in Tainan, i'd be spending a nite at my Aunt's (maternal side) place, den the next morning i'd be leaving for Taizhong (central TW where Niu's studying at) to meet up with Niu2 again.

hectic hectic hectic~
