hmm a quick update.
-social life: blank
-love life: blank
-work life: chant after me - i shall not whine abt work
arghhh. blogging is suppose to be therapeutic, but it makes me more depressed instead*ROAR*
let's talk about happier things. i shall gloat abt my recent visit to Bangkok with my cuz Niu :D
for the benefit of my one and only taiwanese friend, i shall blog in english AND chinese~~
21 June 2007 Day 1
i took half day leave to pack + get prepared.
yes only half a day, leaves are precious must stretch them as much as you can okay?!

just got back home frm work. yes, somebody's very excited hur hur
my flight was at 9+pm, i thought i had plenty of time, cld prob squeeze in a popeye dinner b4 i board the plane
(of course once again my time management skill failed me, by the time i arrived i just have enough time to clear the custom, pop by the loo for a pee, hide my weapon of mass destruction and convince the air crew that the gate beeped bcos of my metal belt buckle)

train ride to Changi. cheng is poor ppl. enough said LOL.

half empty luggage and my trusty birkis
i got the promo tix frm Swiss airline, $230 inclusive of all taxes, not a bad deal:D

European airline, lotsa angmoh wor

taking the cattle class

*MOOOOOOO*
ok my hair's in a mess, please ignore it. sth must have possessed me to cut my hair n rebond it 2 days ago.
now i'm a walking disaster *sniffs* more abt it another time *go hide in a corner n weep*
err did i mention i'm terrified of taking planes? usually i'd drink b4 the flight to put myself into a stupor
but i was in a rush dat night so din have the time to make myself a drink. it doesnt help the weather's bad and we had a rocky departure. Meals were served but i cld barely eat. I cringed whenever the plane shook and I cld feel the food travelling up my throat.

red wine at high altitude is the best remedy.
after a (mini) bottle, i felt more lightheaded. Then the plane shook again.

i pretended i was thirsty.
i still felt anxious. it's very torturing. den i started fantasizing about teleportation.
it's becoming a routine. drink. teleportation. drink. teleportation. drink. teleportation...the cycle carries on till we touch down.
ok i thought the red wine's not working, but all of the sudden i was knocked out and when i regain consciousness we were touching down.

pic i took b4 i blacked out. note the out-of-focus eyes hur hur
BUT when i tried standing up, i realized I WAS FREAKING DRUNKKKK.
argh. it was so embarrassing, and i had to pretend i was prefectly fine.
somehow i managed to stagger to the nearest toilet and puke my heart out. next time i'd just stick to vodka. (a digression, i realize as i get older my tolerance level for alcohol gets lower *ROAR*)

somehow in my barely-awake state i snapped a pic of Bangkok airport, albeit blur hehe :P
and being a proud taiwanese i am denied access to practically every country unless i produce a visa
so i joined the queue with the PRCs the taiwanese the indians and waited 1hr plus for my visa on arrival. by the time i cleared custom the alcohol had cleared and i was fully awake. Niu2 who took an earlier flight from TW had waited almost 2hrs for me =..= I AM SO SORRYYYYYYY.
the half-hr cab ride to our hotel was only 200baht (less than SGD$10). the half-hr cab ride from Changi back to my house at Boon Lay cost me SGD$30 =..=

Niu2 admiring herself in the mirror hur hur.
oh the hotel was better than expected. clean and spacious, though a distance away from the city center (15min train ride). $44/night from AsiaRooms~

goodies Niu2 got for me frm TW. the dried mango was fab. we finished the packet in Thailand LOL
we chit chat a bit, i was tryin hard to stay awake. according to Niu2, 1sec ago i just responded to what she said, the next moment i was fast asleep LOL.

view from the cafe at the hotel. yupz $44/night inclusive of breakfast~

buffet style. food was not too bad, spread was pretty good, but there were hits and misses and the menu never changes so it gets a little boring after a few days.

we decided day 1 shall be shopping day~~ walking towards the train station to take the train to city center

a few hypermarkets in the area. for some mysterious reason hypermarts make me excited LOL
Thai cab comes in many colours.

we thought this was atrocious

now this looks familar. they prob import the infra and design from the same country LOL

hello Singapore.

at least sth different. Public phones are quite common in Thailand while almost extinct in SG. But the phones are card-specific, only cards released by the company which installed the phone booths can be used. Niu2 was lookin up and down for a public phone that accepts the card she just bought. (we later found out the card she bought was meant to be used with a HANDPHONE =..=)

cute MRT tix. train rides are comparable to that in SG. SGD$1+ for a ride. oh well, at least you dont have to pay deposit haha.

cousin Niu2~ i miss her!! Thanks for putting up with my grouchy temper throughout the whole trip *muackz*
our first stop was Siam Center and MBK that were located in the same area. Siam was basically a replica of Taka and Paragon. Nothing we could afford, anyway we werent interested in stuff we cld find in our own country haha.
MBK felt like lucky plaza =..= in fact, lucky plaza felt more upmarket than MBK. we were quite disappointed with the place but at least we found Dunkin Donut

Thais like to display their food in the open. Sth we cldnt get used to.

and they like colourful food too. we only think food colouring when we see colours. it doesnt do much to our appetite.

we made Niu2 the Minster of Finance. We set up a common fund in which we pooled our money for daily expenditures

we got the signature flavors.
Hmmm. we find the donuts too bread-like and chewy. we'd prefer a lighter and fluffier version.

but it's cheap. average 21baht for a donut, that makes it less than SGD$1

they said no photography. yupz. they just said so :D
after dunkin donut we walked ard for another hr or so, still din buy anything much. to be precise, we cldnt find anything to buy.

we found mister donut within the same building.

chocolate flavors now. trusty Minister of Finance poses for the camera.

looks promising. yar, LOOKS.
once again we decided we prefer TW's version :P
maybe we're just biased hur hur.
*to be continued*
(i know i said i'd blog in chinese, but i'm too drained to do so now*yawnz*)
(moi shall do it another day!)
