rantings...

i never feel much abt teachers (or lecturers in uni context)

i'd recognize their face (for the semester they're teaching me)

their names/surnames/nicknames(unless it's funny, you know, wickedly funny) never register

when i was a kid i showed respect for them, but it's out of fear for a figure of authority, but not respecting them for who they really are

(and reality has proven itself that teachers are, after all, mere mortals)

and in uni they've been reduced to people who mark/grade my papers

but dis particular lecturer managed to touch my heart today

i've decided he's one of my favorite ppl :D

for most lecturers teaching is not their priority, writing papers doing research obtaining a tenure getting promoted up e academic hierarchy is wat they really strive for

they dun really give a shit abt e students, how well or bad the student does is his own daiji (business)

BUT

dis particular lecturer, actually requested to meet every single student in his module

he wants a one-to-one talk with everyone to evaluate how the student is coping (based on the student's midterm results) and how he could help the student

he genuinely cares

how do i know?

he was frowning at my midterm paper, i got a zero for one section which i skipped, i tot it's farnie he seemed deeply troubled by the zero when i wasnt so much affected by it (i answered all other parts wad)

den he asked me: how arh?

wahahaha i get very tickled whenever lecturers use such localized singlish language

and he started flipping thru my paper absent-mindedly and asked how arh? a few times, but more to himself

oh man, he seriously wants to help

i is touched :))) *sniffs*

have been baking fervently

it keeps me happy

and fat.

bleh

life's never a bed of roses.
