HCM Day 3

yes i cant believe i'm bloggin at 5am too.
you guys are the reason the fine lines under my eyes are deepening. roar

30 Jan Tues

It's the day of our Mekong River tour (USD$10/pax). we crawled out of bed when e world is still asleep and made our way to District 1, the backpackers' district where the tour agency is located

thought we were running late but when we arrived there was still enough time to grab some drinks and baguette for breakfast on the coach

breakfast. baguette with pork floss, cucumber, mayo and yup, you got it, FISH SAUCEEEEE.

the baguette was 10,000 dong, ard SGD$1~ the filling was a tad thin, but the bread was superbbbb~ freshly toasted, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside!

we didnt expect the bus ride to take so long, must had been at least 3hrs before we reached our destination. but good time and spot for napping :D

actually there wasnt much to see. we kept hopping from bigger boat to smaller boat, smaller boat back to bigger boat etc etc and there's only napping to do on the boat rides :P

lunch was provided but wasnt good. it's...fried maggie mee =..= we sat with 3 german guys. but they're not cute. boo.

Photobucket
my fav pic of fav fren for the day!

Photobucket
that's how i got the tan lines on my thighs after the trip!

we were brought to different islands to look at the huts vegetaion huts vegetation and... their permutations? LOL

ok lah. there was this coconut candy 'factory' (i think they only produce enough to sell to tourists, definitely not for exports). and another spot that sells honey.

Photobucket
also they wrap a python ard you and before it strangles you for tea they take a photo of u. then it's somebody else's turn to offer himself as the teabreak snack

but nope, not me, i'm too smart for that :P

the itenary in general was pretty boring, but overall it had been a relaxing one-day tour, and i get to nap a lot, so aint complaining :P

it was another long bus ride back to HCM, was late when we got back, then a heavy down pour left us stranded in District 1, was close to 8pm when we met up with duong

duong came to pick us up. and 3 of us rode on his bike! wahahaha. we are skinny ppl horrrrr.

actually it's not allowed, but according to duong the traffic police dont patrol after a heavy down pour~ wadever weird theory that is, we got hm without breaking any law. on record at least :P

cant rem what we had for dinner...or if we actually got one...

but after taking a short break, duong brought us out again (on his bike) to get baguette & coffee

he looks down on the baguette we got for breakfast. he's determined to show us how a real, good baguette should be.

heading out again

all 3 on the bike~

Photobucket
that's my legendary magic pinky. i insisted on putting my magic pinky on HY's hand when she rested it on duong's shoulder for support, as my magic pinky would pull her back onto the bike if she gets flinged off and save her frm falling to her death

but HY thinks my magic pnky is a joke. she even made fun of it on her blog. humph. how unappreciative!

duong's fav baguette shop~

then he brought us to a back alley. we were expecting a neighbourhood coffee shop. but we din expect it to be so rundown!

Photobucket

and surprise surprise surprise! it's actually quite a upmarket-feel cafe! in fact, we felt grossly underdressed there (i was wearing a sloppy old tee & duper short fbt shorts!)

we sat inside to have our baguettes first. bread's slightly denser than what we had for breakfast. but i like it too. gimme my carbo and i'm a happy girl :D (but that's restricted to bread and noodles, rice not really my thingyyy)

Photobucket

then we shifted outside for some photowhoring moments and late night crapping over our cuppa

been a happy night with good companies.

and dont judge a book by its cover!
